REMS, or Radio Frequency Echographic Multi-Spectrometry, is a cutting-edge technology, developed in Europe, that uses safe ultrasound waves to accurately measure bone mineral density (BMD), providing comprehensive clinical data including BMD, T-score, and Z-score, and Fragility Score. The REMS clinical report is a comprehensive overview including the unique Bone Fragility score which is an indication of the bone strength.
The REMS technology is currently be utilised in NSW for research purposes; it has been TGA approved (ARTG 344830) in Australia, although is not currently a medicare item. Costs of the scan cannot be claimed on private health or public insurers.
